Who should attend this module?
- Any skin camouflage practitioners, complimentary / beauty therapists or health professionals involved in managing people requiring skin camouflage
- Those who are interested in developing their own professional practice within the speciality of skin camouflage
- Individuals who wish to learn how to camouflage their own skin defects, tattoos, birthmarks, etc. The emphasis will be on the practical application of skin camouflage and these individuals will not be formally assessed.
Specific entry criteria
- Current employment in an appropriate area of practice
- Minimum of 5 hours with appropriate patients/clients per month
- For entry at Level 2, evidence of previous study will be required & should be discussed with the course leader
Module aims
- To gain insight & understanding of social, and psychological needs of patients requiring skin camouflage
- To demonstrate competent application of skin camouflage.
Module content
The course will primarily focus on practical skin camouflage techniques.
- Techniques for masking skin discolouration, camouflage overlaying, replacing imperfections
- Record keeping
- Health & safety legislation
- Referral to health services
Other topics include: dermatology, psychological issues, social issues, communication skills, support groups.
Who teaches on the module?
The module is taught by Carole Ann Pitfield and Sue Bradbrooke (Skin Camouflage Network) who have extensive experience in this area.
Induction and preparation
You will be sent details of enrolment when you complete and return your application form. You will also be sent a copy of the time-table. Please do ring the Module Leader if you have any questions prior to starting the module.

This course will commence in Spring each year and is held in 3 study blocks:
- April 1st, 2nd 2008
- June 17th, 18th 2008
- September 9th, 10th 2008
